လူထုေခါင္းေဆာင္ ေဒၚေအာင္ဆန္းစုၾကည္၏ ၆၃ ႏွစ္ေျမာက္ ေမြးေန႔ အခမ္းအနား က်င္းပမည့္ ရန္ကုန္တိုင္း ဗဟန္းၿမ့ဳိနယ္ ေရႊဂံုတုိင္လမ္းရွိ အဖြဲ႔ခ်ဳပ္႐ံုးအတြင္း ၾကံ့ဖံြ႔မ်ား ဝင္ေရာက္စီးနင္းကာ သံဃာႏွင့္ လူပုဂၢဳိလ္ ၄ ဦးကို ဖမ္းဆီးသြားသည္။ ၿပီးခဲ့သည့္ နာရီပိုင္းက စြမ္းအားရွင္မ်ားသည္ တားဆီးေနသည့္ ၾကားကပင္ အခမ္းအနား က်င္းပမည့္ အခ်ိန္ကို ေစာင့္ဆုိင္းေနသည့္ အဖြဲ႔ခ်ဳပ္ဝင္ ၇ဝဝ ခန္႔ရွိရာ ႐ံုးဝင္းအတြင္း ဝင္ေရာက္ကာ အခမ္းအနား တက္ေရာက္သူမ်ားထဲက သံဃာေတာ္တပါးႏွင့္ လူ ၃ ဦးကို ဖမ္းဆီးသြားျခင္း ျဖစ္သည္။“ဆြမ္းေလာင္းၿပီးေတာ့ ငွက္ေတြ လႊတ္တယ္။ လူေတြက ေအာ္တာေပါ့။ ေဒၚေအာင္ဆန္းစုၾကည္ က်န္းမာပါေစလို႔။ အဲဒါ စြမ္းအားရွင္ေတြ ေရာက္လာတယ္။ ၄ ေယာက္ေလာက္ေတာ့ ပါသြားတယ္။ ဦးထြန္းျမင့္၊ ဘုန္းဘုန္းတပါးရယ္၊ ေနာက္ ၂ ေယာက္ရယ္” ဟု အဖြဲ႔ခ်ဳပ္ ေျပာခြင့္ရသူ ဦးဉာဏ္ဝင္းက ေျပာသည္။ အဖြဲ႔ခ်ဳပ္ လူငယ္တဦးက “လံုျခံဳေရး ခ်ထားတယ္။ ဝင္ဖမ္းမွာ စိုးလို႔။ ဝင္ဖမ္းတာဗ်။ စြမ္းအားရွင္ကားေတြနဲ႔ ႐ံုးအေရွ့မွာ ရပ္လိုက္ၿပီးေတာ့ ဝင္ဖမ္းတယ္။ အခု အရင္ေနတဲ့ ေရႊတိဂံုဘုရားဘက္ကို သြားတဲ့ေကြ႔မွာ ျပန္ရပ္ေနတယ္။ ေထာက္လွမ္းေရးေတြလည္း သူ႔ေနရာမွ ျပန္ေနေန ၾကတယ္” ဟု ေျပာသည္။ ႐ံုးအနီးတြင္ လက္နက္ကိုင္ လံုထိန္းတပ္သား၊ ရဲႏွင့္ ၾကံ့ဖံြ႔ စုစုေပါင္း ဦးေရ ၁ဝဝဝ ခန္႔ လံုျခံဳေရး ခ်ထားသည္။“အားလံုးေပါင္း ၁ ေထာင္ေလာက္ ရွိတယ္။ ဒုိင္နာေတြနဲ႔ဆို ၅-၇ ကားရွိတယ္။ ရဲကားေတြလည္း အမ်ားႀကီး” ဟု အဖဲြ႔ခ်ဳပ္ လူငယ္က ေျပာသည္။ ဦးဉာဏ္ဝင္းကလည္း “မနက္က ဆြမ္းေလာင္းပါတယ္။ သံဃာေတြေရာ၊ မယ္သီလရွင္ေတြေရာ ဆြမ္းေလာင္းပါတယ္။ ႐ံုးပတ္ဝန္းက်င္မွာေတာ့ လံုျခံဳေရး အႀကီးအက်ယ္ ခ်ထားပါတယ္။ လက္နက္ကုိင္ လံုထိန္းကား ၄-၅-၆ စီး ရွိတယ္။ အရပ္ဝတ္နဲ႔ လူေတြလည္း အမ်ားႀကီး ခ်ထား ပါတယ္” ဟု မဇၩိမကို ေျပာသည္။နံနက္ပိုင္းတြင္ သံဃာႏွင့္ သီလရွင္ ၂ဝဝ ေက်ာ္ကို ဆြမ္းကပ္ လွဴၿပီးကတည္းက အာဏာပိုင္မ်ားႏွင့္ အန္အယ္ဒီ အဖြဲ႔ဝင္မ်ားအၾကား ထိပ္တုိက္ ေတြ႔မႈမ်ားျဖစ္ေနၿပီး ယခု သတင္းေပးပို႔ခ်ိန္အထိ အဖြဲ႔႐ံုးကို ယာယီ ပိတ္ထားရသည္။ အဖြဲ႔ခ်ဳပ္ လူငယ္တဦးက “အခု ႐ံုးေတြပိတ္ထားရတယ္။ ခဏ။ ဆြမ္းေကၽြးဖို႔ ရွိတယ္။ ဘုန္းဘုန္းေတြကို အဂၤါေန႔တုိင္း ဆြမ္းေလာင္းတာေတြ ဘာေတြ လုပ္ၿပီးသြားၿပီ။ ဆြမ္းေကၽြးမလို႔၊ မေကၽြးရေသးဘူး” ဟု မဇၩိမကို ေျပာသည္။ မဇၩိမက ေနာက္ဆံုး ဆက္သြယ္သည့္ ျမန္မာစံေတာ္ခ်ိန္ ၁၂ နာရီခြဲအထိ အာဏာပိုင္မ်ားႏွင့္ အန္အယ္ဒီ လူႀကီးမ်ား အၾကားတြင္ ညိႇႏႈိင္းေနဆဲ ျဖစ္သည္။ေမြးေန႔ အထိမ္းအမွတ္အျဖစ္ ၁ဝ နာရီခြဲ - ၁၁ နာရီခန္႔တြင္ သံဃာ ၅ ပါးကို ေန႔ဆြမ္းကပ္ရန္ ဖိတ္ၾကားထားေသာ္လည္း အာဏာပိုင္မ်ားက တားျမစ္သျဖင့္ မႂကြေရာက္ႏိုင္ဟု ဦးဉာဏ္ဝင္းက ေျပာသည္။ ..

URGENT - Official: Suu Kyi's detention extended

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) - Myanmar's military government has renewed the detention of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
A government official said that Suu Kyi's detention was officially extended Tuesday afternoon. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media.
It was not immediately clear if the extension was for six months or one year. The extension became official when an official drove to her house to inform her of it, he said.
Suu Kyi has been in detention continuously since May 2003, most of the time under house arrest.
She has been confined without trial for more than 12 of the past 18 years.

Myanmar police detain Suu Kyi supporters20 minutes agoYANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Police in Myanmar have detained more than a dozen members of Aung San Suu Kyi's opposition party.The members of Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy were marching Tuesday from the party's headquarters to her home when riot police shoved the group into a truck.It was not immediately clear where the truck was headed or exactly how many people were detained.Suu Kyi has been detained for more than 12 of the past 18 years, mostly under house arrest.Security was stepped up around Suu Kyi's home as the military junta faced a deadline to decide whether extend her current period of house arrest or release her.

Fire hits Myanmar embassy in Bangkok

.. BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- A fire destroyed a floor at Myanmar's embassy in the Thai capital on Monday.

Four fire engines rushed to the embassy as plumes of smoke rose from inside the walled compound, located in a busy business district of Bangkok. The blaze was put out in about one hour. No injuries were reported.
A fire brigade official, Anupon Saengdara, said the cause was not known. But a man at the embassy identifying himself only as a consular official said faulty wiring sparked the fire.
Pol. Lt. Thanapat Sirawong said the blaze engulfed the second floor of the embassy's main, colonial-style building, totally damaging the floor and sections of the roof.
The area outside the compound is the site of frequent but peaceful demonstrations by Myanmar activists against the military regime in their neighboring homeland.
The visa section of the embassy is located in the building that caught fire. In the last three weeks, aid workers and others often crowded into the section trying to obtain hard-to-get visas to isolationist Myanmar to help victims of a devastating cyclone...

.. ၂၃ရက္ ေမလ တြင္ နအဖမွ နိုင္ငံျခားသား ကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ ့၀င္အားလံုးအား ျမန္မာျပည္ထဲ ၀င္ခြင့္ေပးရန္ သေဘာတူညီေၾကာင္း ဘန္ကီမြန္းမွ ထုတ္ျပန္ေၾကျငာသည္ [1] ။ ယူအန္အဖြဲ ့၀င္မ်ားလာတုိင္း ေမ်ာက္ျပဆန္ေတာင္း လုပ္တတ္ေသာ ၊ အရွက္မရွိ အတုအပမ်ားကို ေနရာခ်ထားတတ္ေသာ နအဖမွ ထိုသို့ေသာ္ သေဘာတူညီခ်က္ေပးလိုက္သည္ ဆိုျခင္းမွာ သတင္းေကာင္းဟု ေခၚနိုင္ေသာ္လည္း အလြန္ေတာ့ ယံုရခက္ပါသည္ ။ ေရႊ၀ါေရာင္ေတာ္လွန္ေရးအခ်ိန္ကာလက ဂန္ဘာရီနွင့္ ေနျပည္ေတာ္တြင္ ေတြ ့ဆံုေဆြးေႏြးပြဲမ်ားလုပ္ခါ ဂန္ဘာရီၾကီးအား နအဖမွ ဖလွဲတကင္း ျပံဳးရႊင္ႏႈတ္ဆက္ေနစဥ္ ၊ ရန္ကုန္ျမိဳ ့နွင့္ တျခားျမိဳ ့မ်ားတြင္ ဘုန္းၾကီးမ်ား ၊ ျပည္သူမ်ားကို ဖမ္းစီးျခင္းမ်ား ၊ ဘုန္းၾကီးေက်ာင္းမ်ားကို ၀င္ေရာက္ရွာေဖြ ခ်ိတ္ပိတ္ျခင္းမ်ားကို ေနာက္ကြယ္မွ အင္အားျမွင့္တင္ျပီး လုပ္ခဲ့ၾကသည္ ။ ထိုသို့ ယူအန္မွ အၾကီးအကဲမ်ားကို သေဘာတူညီခ်က္ ကတိ စသည္တို့ကို ျပီးျပီးေရာဆိုသလို မ်က္နွာေျပာင္တိုက္ျပီး ေကာက္က်စ္ယုတ္မာေသာ နအဖက ေပးခါ ၊ သူတို့ျပန္သြားခ်ိန္တြင္ေတာ့ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံကို ခ်ယ္လွယ္ခ်င္သလို ခ်ယ္လွယ္ခဲ့သည္မွာ အတိတ္တြင္ မေရမတြက္နိုင္ေအာင္ ျဖစ္ပ်က္ခဲ့ဖူးျပီး ျဖစ္သည္ ။ဘန္ကီမြန္း၏ ေနာက္ဆံုး ထုတ္ျပန္ေၾကျငာခ်က္တြင္ စစ္အစိုးရသည္ နုိင္ငံတကာ၏ ပူးေပါင္းကယ္ဆယ္ေရးလုပ္ငန္းမ်ားကို ေလ်ာေလ်ာရွဴရွဴ လက္ခံေတာ့မည္ဟု ေမွ်ာ္လင့္မိေၾကာင္း ေျပာၾကားခဲ့သည္ [1] ။ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံ အိမ္နီးခ်င္းနိုင္ငံမ်ားတြင္ အသင့္ေစာင့္ဆိုင္းေနၾကေသာ ကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ ့၀င္မ်ားသည္ နအဖမွ မီးစိမ္းျပသည္နွင့္တျပိဳင္နက္ ခ်က္ခ်င္း၀င္နိုင္ရင္ အသင့္ျပင္ထားၾကျပီးသား ျဖစ္ေပသည္ ။ အကယ္၍ ဤစစ္အစိုးရသည္ ဘန္ကီမြန္းေျပာသလို တကယ္လက္ခံလိုစိတ္ရွိခဲ့ေသာ္ အဘယ္ေၾကာင့္ ခုခ်ိန္ထိ ျမန္မာျပည္ထဲသို့ နိုင္ငံျခားကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ ့၀င္မ်ား အလံုးအရင္းနွင့္ မ၀င္ေရာက္နိုင္ေသးသနည္း ။ “နိုင္ငံေရးပိုင္း ဆက္ႏြယ္မႈမရွိဘဲ ၊ ဘာမွ တန္ျပန္ေတာင္းဆိုမႈမရွိေသာ (no strings attached) ကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ ့၀င္မ်ားအားလံုးကို ၾကိဳဆိုေၾကာင္း” သိန္းစိန္က ထုတ္ျပန္ေၾကျငာခဲ့သည္ [2] ။ ထိုသို့ဆိုလွ်င္ အဖြဲ ့အစည္းတိုင္းကို နိုင္ငံေရးဆက္ႏြယ္မႈ ရွိမရွိ စသည္ျဖင့္ အေသးစိတ္ လိုက္လံစစ္ေဆးျပီးမွ လက္ခံမည္ဟူေသာ သေဘာသက္ေရာက္ေနသည္ ။ ထို့အျပင္ ျမန္မာေရပိုင္နက္ အနီးတ၀ွက္တြင္ အသင့္ရွိေနျပီျဖစ္ေသာ စစ္သေဘာၤ စစ္ေလယာဥ္မ်ားကို ၀င္ခြင့္မေပးနိုင္ပါဟုလည္း ေျပာၾကားခဲ့သည္ ။ ထိုင္းနိုင္ငံရွိ Utapao air base တြင္ အေျခစိုက္ ေစာင့္ဆိုင္းေနေသာ အေမရိကန္ေလတပ္မွ ကယ္ဆယ္ေရးအဖြဲ ့တာ၀န္ရွိသူက “ျမန္မာဘက္က သူတို့ကို ေပး၀င္ခ်င္တဲ့အခ်ိန္တိုင္း ၀င္ဖို့ အဆင္သင့္ျဖစ္ေနျပီး ၊ သူတို့မွာ နိုင္ငံေရးပိုင္း ပတ္သက္လိုစိတ္ လံုး၀မရွိေၾကာင္း ၊ လူသားခ်င္းစာနာေထာက္ထားခါ အကူအညီမ်ားေပးနိုင္ရန္ အခြင့္အေရးကိုသာ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္မိေၾကာင္း” ေတာင္းပန္တိုးလွ်ိဳးေသာ ေလသံနွင့္ ေျပာတာ ဖတ္ရဖူးသည္ ။ သို့ပါေသာ္လည္း သန္းေရႊနွင့္ အေပါင္းပါမ်ား၏ အသည္းနွလံုးမ်ားကေတာ့ သံ နွင့္ ထု ထားသည္ ထင္ရေလာက္ေအာင္ မာရည္ေက်ာရည္ ရွိလွ၏ ။ အသည္းနွလံုး မရွိေတာ့ဖူးလားဟု ထင္ရေလာက္ေအာင္ ရက္စက္ယုတ္မာစြာ ခုခ်ိန္ထိ ကယ္ဆယ္ေရးပစၥည္းမ်ား အမ်ားအျပားပါ၀င္သည့္ ျမန္မာျပည္သူတို့ကို အလွ်င္အျမန္ အကူအညီေပးနိုင္မည့္ ထို စစ္ေလယာဥ္ စစ္သေဘာၤမ်ားကို ၀င္ခြင့္မျပဳေပ ။ ယူအန္ ၊ အာစီယံ ၊ အေမရိကန္ ၊ အဂၤလန္ စေသာ နိုင္ငံၾကီးမ်ားသည္ ေရႊ၀ါေရာင္ ေတာ္လွန္ေရးတုန္းကလည္း နအဖ အေပါင္းပါမ်ား၏ လုပ္ရပ္မ်ားကို ျပစ္တင္ရွံဳ ့ခ်ခဲ့ယံုမွလြဲ၍ ဘာမွ မလုပ္ခဲ့ ။ ဂန္ဘာရီ၏ ခရီးစဥ္မ်ားသည္ အေခါက္ေခါက္ အေရအတြက္သာ ရွိခဲ့ျပီး ဘာမွ အက်ိဳးမထူးခဲ့ ။ ယူအန္မွ သူတို့၏ ပါ၀င္မႈလုပ္ငန္း မေအာင္ျမင္ခဲ့ဟု ထုတ္ေဖာ္ေျပာၾကားခဲ့ျပီး ၊ ျမန္မာျပည္မွ ေသဆံုးရေသာ ရဟန္းျပည္သူတို့အေၾကာင္း ေမ့ေလ်ာ့သြားခဲ့ၾကသည္ ။ အခ်ိန္ေတြၾကာလာသည္နွင့္အမွ် ျမန္မာျပည္သူတို့၏ ဆင္းရဲႏြမ္းပါးလွေသာ ဘ၀မ်ားအေၾကာင္း ၊ ဖိနွိပ္ခ်ဳပ္ခ်ယ္ခံရျခင္းမ်ားအေၾကာင္း ကမာၻ ့သတင္းမ်ားတြင္ ေမွးမွိန္ေပ်ာက္ကြယ္သြားခဲ့သည္ ။ ယခုတဖန္လည္း နိုင္ငံျခားကယ္ဆယ္ေရး၀န္ထမ္းမ်ား အားလံုးကို ေပး၀င္ပါမည္ဟူေသာ စကားတခြန္းနွင့္ ဘန္ကီမြန္း ျမန္မာျပည္မွ ျပန္ထြက္ေတာ့မည္လား ။ နအဖ လိုက္ျပေသာ ဒီလိုေမးရင္ ဒီလိုေျဖဟု ဟန္လုပ္ျပဖို့ ခ်ိန္းေျခာက္ခံထားရေသာ ဒုကၡသည္ တခ်ိဳ ့တေလကို ေတြ ့ဆံုျပီး ဘန္ကီမြန္းျမန္မာျပည္ကို ေနာက္တခါ ေက်ာခိုင္းဦးမည္လား ။ ဘန္ကီမြန္း၏ ထုတ္ျပန္ေၾကျငာခ်က္တြင္ ဤသို့ ေျပာခဲ့သည္ - “I came here to give the people of Myanmar a message of hope that the world is watching, and that the world is with you.” ဟုတ္ပါသည္ - သူေျပာသလို ကမာၻသည္ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံအား အျမဲလို ေစာင့္ၾကည့္ေနရံုမွတပါး ဘာမွ မလုပ္ခဲ့ ။ သူေျပာသလို ကမာၻသည္ ျမန္မာျပည္သူတို့အား အေ၀းမွ အားေပးစကားမ်ား ေျပာၾကားရံုမွလြဲ၍ ဘာမွ မလုပ္ခဲ့ ။ အနွစ္နွစ္ဆယ္နီးပါး ၾကာျမင့္ခဲ့ျပီ ။ တကယ္ေတာ့ ကမာၻသည္ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံအတြက္ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ်က္ပါေသာ စကားလံုးမ်ား ေပးရံုမွလြဲ၍ ဘာဆို ဘာမွ မလုပ္ခဲ့ေခ် ။သို့ပါေသာ္ေၾကာင့္ ခုခ်ိန္မွစ၍ ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို့ ကိုယ္ပိုင္အသိစိတ္ဓါတ္နွင့္ အမိျမန္မာနိင္ငံအား ႏြံထဲမွ ကယ္ဆယ္ရန္ ကိုယ့္အားကိုယ္ကိုး၍သာ လုပ္ရေတာ့မည္ဟူေသာ ယတိျပတ္ခံယူခ်က္မ်ားသာ ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို့တြက္ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ်က္ေရာင္ျခည္မ်ားအျဖစ္ က်န္ရွိနိုင္ေတာ့မည္ ဟု ေကာက္ခ်က္ခ်လိုက္မိပါေတာ့သည္ ။

Indiana Jones movie upsets communists

.. MOSCOW, Russia (AP) -- Members of Russia's Communist Party are calling for a nationwide boycott of the new Indiana Jones movie, saying it aims to undermine communist ideology and distort history.


"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" stars Harrison Ford as an archaeologist in 1957 competing with an evil KGB agent, played by Cate Blanchett, to find a skull endowed with mystic powers.
It hit Russian screens Thursday.
Communist Party members in St. Petersburg said on a web site this week that the Soviet Union in 1957 "did not send terrorists to the States," but launched a satellite, "which evoked the admiration of the whole world."

Burma 'to let in all aid workers'

.. Burma's top leader has agreed to let all foreign aid workers into the country for relief work in cyclone-hit areas, UN head Ban Ki-moon has said.
Mr Ban announced the news after talks in Burma's remote capital, Naypyidaw, with Gen Than Shwe.
Burma's military leaders had previously refused to allow a full-scale relief effort by foreign aid workers, and claimed everything was under control.
About 78,000 people died and 56,000 are missing after the 2 May cyclone.
Mr Ban said he thought Gen Than's decision was a breakthrough.
"I had a very good meeting with the senior general and particularly on these aid workers," he said.
"He's taken quite a flexible position on this matter."
'Show camp'
Gen Than also agreed to allow Rangoon airport to be used as an international hub for aid distribution, Mr Ban said.
It is not clear exactly whether he has agreed to give visas to foreign aid workers or let them into the Irrawaddy Delta to deliver aid.

The offer also does not specify whether both civilian and military aid workers are included, and whether US helicopters stationed off the coast can become involved.
The BBC's Jonathan Head in Bangkok, Thailand, says Burma has a record of making promises to the UN, only to withdraw them later.
The senior leader had until recently failed to respond to the secretary general's letters and phone calls.
On Thursday, Mr Ban flew over flooded rice fields and destroyed villages and visited a government relief camp in the Irrawaddy delta.
A UN official privately called it a "show camp", says the BBC's Laura Trevelyan, in Burma with the secretary general.
Mr Ban said he was "very upset" by the devastation he saw, adding that the international community stood ready to overcome the tragedy.
'Too little too late'
Western governments have backed Mr Ban's visit, calling for pressure on Burma's leadership to do more to help the cyclone victims.

UK Foreign Secretary David Milliband told the BBC: "The tragedy is that, for some people it is already too late, and it is certainly too little compared to the needs, but we have got to use the opportunity that exists.
"We've got to keep pushing that door open and working to ensure that those desperate people get the help that they need."
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the responsibility for the situation lay with the Burmese government.
"It's a quite unusual situation actually that you have a country in this desperate straits with its population in the circumstances that this population is in - and you get a kind of stone cold face about people who just want help," she told the BBC.
The UN estimates that only a quarter of the 2.5 million Burmese affected by the cyclone have received the help they need.
The Red Cross has said that in districts further south-west of those shown to Mr Ban, waterways were still clogged with corpses and that many people had received no aid.
One foreign doctor told the BBC many were drinking water from puddles, while children and old people were suffering from dysentery, dengue fever and dehydration. ..
